Song Ran understands Shen Bei’s intentions and thinks it might be better if they don’t meet. Back at home, Song Ran is haunted by the memories of the attack, with the sound of explosions ringing in her ears, forcing her to hide in a tent, covering her ears. Luo Zhan gets a call; he had asked an international organization to send volunteers, and now one of them has woken up, claiming to be Li Zan.
Luo Zhan goes to the hospital to see Li Zan. Li Zan has suffered brain damage, rib and minor bone fractures, along with numerous external injuries. Luo Zhan brings Li Zan back to their home country, assuring him not to worry as he can be treated there. Luo Zhan asks if Li Zan has his hearing aid with him, and Li Zan confirms he does. After a check-up, Li Zan explains that his hearing issues aren’t the worst part for him; it’s the tinnitus and dizziness that make him feel like he’s in a perpetual explosion.
The doctor tells Luo Zhan that Li Zan’s condition might not solely be from the explosion; there could be other underlying reasons, suggesting a visit to a psychologist. Luo Zhan visits Li Zan’s hospital room, finding him having smashed many things and huddled on the bed. The director calls Song Ran to select two photos for a competition and to name them, as they must be sent to the commission soon.
Seeing these photos, Song Ran is reminded of the explosion. She lets the director name the photos, believing an outsider’s perspective might be more accurate. The director praises Song Ran’s work on this mission, urging him to cheer up. In the elevator, Song Ran encounters Shen Bei, who claims she’s busy and leaves quickly.
Li Zan packs his things, unsure if he can continue his work. Song Ran has been visiting Luo Zhan’s place hoping to run into Li Zan. Song Ran writes Li Zan’s name on his car window, but Li Zan doesn’t see him. Li Zan sees Song Ran but doesn’t call out to him.
Back home, Song Ran’s mother asks about his health; he says the medical check was fine but the blind date was not. His mother asks what type of person he likes, offering to look for someone, but Song Ran believes these things are about fate. His mother questions if his fate is any better, mentioning how he was calling for Li Zan’s name while unconscious and seeing him in Song Ran’s photos, asking where he is now and if they’ve kept in touch since he returned.
Song Ran tells his mother not to worry so much, and she retorts by asking who would care for him if not her, suggesting his father who can’t even manage his own household. She dramatically offers to call Li Zan to take responsibility for Song Ran, leaving him in utter despair about her harsh words and lack of empathy. Song Ran storms into his room, covering his ears and lying on the bed.
While at the hospital, Song Ran thinks he sees Li Zan but loses him when he goes to look. Back at home, his mother, who has no work today, decides to cook at home and asks what Song Ran wants to eat. He says anything is fine. At the airport, Song Ran finally sees Li Zan through a glass barrier; in a rush, Li Zan has to catch his flight. He calls Song Ran to confirm his phone number is correct, promising they’ll talk once he arrives at his destination.
