Song Ran visits the orphanage and meets the leader and Lena. Lena explains that during an attack, many people went missing, later found to be buried in the rubble, including Solon and Sia’s parents. Sia tells Song Ran that a reporter sister has been visiting frequently, and Song Ran guesses it’s Shen Bei.
Song Ran sees Shen Bei at the orphanage and calls over Sia and Solon. Shen Bei recognizes them from a photo, guessing Song Ran brought them over. Although the tension between Song Ran and Shen Bei has lessened, Song Ran sees Shen Bei as someone who tries to solve her problems alone and thinks about forgiving her, but Shen Bei insists they are still rivals.

Sasin asks Lena why she became a volunteer. Lena explains that after they left, the manager found an excuse to fire her, which Benjamin witnessed. Benjamin confronted the manager, but Lena no longer wanted to be a waitress and chose to be a volunteer instead. Benjamin helped her get a volunteer position through Li Zan. Sasin thinks volunteering is too dangerous, but Lena wants to help others, reminded of Sasin’s childhood, hoping these children can grow up well, go to university, and make the country better.
Lena admits she was wrong before and they can meet whenever they want now. Sasin is pleased. Lena gives Sasin a star, saying Benjamin took his last one, but she has another for him. Sasin thinks Benjamin wouldn’t want such a thing, but Lena insists, saying she saw the desire in Benjamin’s eyes. Song Ran wants to take a photo when suddenly there’s an explosion, which Li Zan also hears.
Song Ran is hit by the blast, falling to the ground, with some children injured. She comforts them, telling them not to cry, and with Shen Bei, moves them to a safe spot. Sasin and Lena come over; Solon and Sia are still behind. Sasin tells them to hide while he checks things out. He brings Sia back but gets injured; Solon is still behind.
Song Ran tells Shen Bei to stay hidden and takes Sasin to hide. Lena says she brought the two children and insists on going back to save them, asking Song Ran to look after Sasin. Shen Bei starts crying as Song Ran hopes for military rescue. Li Zan arrives, and Song Ran, overwhelmed, hugs him.
Benjamin arrives with the news that Lena has died. She found Solon but was killed by the enemy. Benjamin deals with the killer; Lena gives Benjamin the star, telling him as a soldier, he’s in danger and must keep it. Benjamin watches Lena close her eyes and roars in anguish. Here, they find a bomb, and Li Zan goes to defuse it.

During the explosion, Song Ran suffers from a ruptured spleen and eye injuries. She’s rushed to the capital and then back home, barely conscious, calling out for Li Zan. Her parents and many colleagues come to see her.
Song Ran can’t find Li Zan and asks Luo Zhan, who hasn’t been in contact with Li Zan either. The director tells Song Ran that Shen Bei brought back her camera, and her photos are good enough for a competition. Song Ran asks the director to choose two for submission. When Song Ran looks for Shen Bei, Shen Bei avoids her, and a colleague mentions she was just there.
