The Storm of Roses – Episode 15 Recap/Review

Zhou Hang secures funding for Yu Xiang, Jiang Yidi faces HR pressure but stands firm, and chance encounters set up exciting dynamics.

Jiang Yidi went to meet a blind date, who turned out to be an overly confident and average-looking man a few years her senior. Despite his mediocrity, he had high expectations for his future wife: she should manage the household, work as a civil servant or teacher (to have more time for family), and care for him completely. Jiang, unimpressed but polite because he was her senior in college, responded with sarcastic remarks, explaining that her work left no room for such expectations. She emphasized her preference for a partner who was caring and gentle—a similarity they shared, but one that highlighted their incompatibility. The man excused himself, leaving Jiang with the bill and a business card.

To her surprise, the card revealed he worked for Yuan Shen Oriental. Sensing an opportunity, Jiang chased after him to recommend Hua Ke Vision for a collaboration. He asked her to send the details later, as he was in a hurry.

Shortly after, Jiang contacted her senior again to gauge Yuan Shen Oriental’s interest in Hua Ke Vision. However, the company was currently leaderless, and nothing could proceed until the new head arrived.

Zhou Hang and Yu Shi’s Negotiation

Zhou Hang noticed online reports of Yu Xiang Investments suing Xie Linhui and decided to visit Yu Shi personally. Zhou asked Yu to drop the lawsuit against Xie, but Yu, experienced in navigating challenges, refused to yield so easily. He explained that withdrawing the lawsuit without substantial justification would damage his credibility. However, Yu was open to negotiation and asked what Zhou could offer in return.

Zhou, leveraging his extensive network, had already identified Yu’s pressing issue: Yu Xiang’s struggle to secure funding. Using his connections, Zhou arranged for Wang, the director of Guotou Fund, to contact Yu and promise them a fund allocation. This unexpected assistance was a lifeline for Yu Xiang, and Yu agreed to consider dropping the lawsuit against Xie Linhui if the arrangement came through.

Zhou reminded Yu of the importance of building alliances rather than enemies, pointing out that internal conflicts often lead to a company’s downfall. Zhou also hinted that Director Ding was secretly collaborating with their competitors and had close ties with Peter, a significant figure within their group. These revelations prompted Yu to reexamine Ding’s activities, suspecting him of underhanded actions. Ultimately, Zhou and Yu reached an agreement, making Zhou’s visit highly productive.

Jiang Yidi’s Determined Stand

Jiang Yidi was called to HR, where she was pressured to take full responsibility for the recent scandal to absolve Director Ding. However, Jiang refused to admit to something she hadn’t done. Frustrated, HR presented her with a termination letter, but Jiang stood her ground, declaring she wouldn’t sign anything before meeting the new boss.

Meanwhile, Mike informed Jiang that Zhou Hang had arrived at the office. She hurried to catch him and seized the chance to discuss Hua Ke Vision’s project. Zhou, intrigued, gave her his business card and told her to visit Yuan Shen Oriental the next day for a proper discussion.

A Chance Encounter at the Fencing Club

Yu Shi, frustrated by the difficulties in meeting Jiang Yidi, decided to unwind at the fencing club. Coincidentally, Jiang arrived at the same venue after being asked by a friend to fill in. Yu defeated his opponent, Old Ma, and Jiang stepped in as the next challenger.

Changes at Zhongshang Langchao

During Xie Linhui’s absence, Lu Jian was appointed acting editor-in-chief at Zhongshang Langchao. President Li assured him that the position would soon be permanent, marking a significant shift in the magazine’s leadership.
