Zhaoming gazes at Mu Xuanling’s face and remarks that after nurturing her for so long, it seems she no longer remembers him. He recalls that Mu Xuanling’s past life was as a Chaos Pearl named A Zhu. Zhaoming asks A Zhu how she ended up here. The man standing next to her speaks up, accusing Zhaoming, the Human Sovereign, of committing unbearable sins. He declares they are following Heaven’s will to suppress Zhaoming beneath the Molten Abyss.
Zhaoming asks A Zhu why she, the Chaos Pearl responsible for maintaining time and space, would be here instead of safely at home. A Zhu responds that she cannot be kept hidden, as she is an ancient divine artifact. For her, a thousand years pass in the blink of an eye. She accuses Zhaoming of killing gods for his selfish desires and declares that she can no longer tolerate him. With that, A Zhu strikes Zhaoming, trapping him beneath the Molten Abyss.
Zhaoming stares at Mu Xuanling’s face, commenting on how innocent she appears now after so much time has passed. He wonders aloud how he should exact revenge on her before throwing her to the ground. Zhaoming declares that he will reclaim everything from her in this blood formation. He mocks her, saying that the once lofty Chaos Goddess now cannot even resist a small blood formation. He demands that she beg for mercy, but Mu Xuanling firmly states she is herself, not some Chaos Goddess.
Mu Xuanling denies experiencing the events Zhaoming described and refuses to plead with him. Zhaoming taunts her, asking how Xie Xuechen would react to her current state. Mu Xuanling insists Zhaoming deal with her directly. Just then, Xie Xuechen arrives, pulling Mu Xuanling up and attempting to take her away. Zhaoming reveals that Xie Xuechen is merely a fragment of himself.
Xie Xuechen retrieves Jun Tian, his weapon, and Zhaoming notes how it has changed. Calling out to Jun Tian, Zhaoming transforms it instantly. Stunned, Xie Xuechen and Mu Xuanling realize they are still trapped in Zhaoming’s illusion. Xie Xuechen manages to escape with Mu Xuanling, but Zhaoming ominously says they will meet again.
Outside the illusion, Xie Xuechen and Mu Xuanling find Xuanxin and the others at the edge of the Dark Domain. Learning that Bixiao Palace has suffered heavy casualties, Xie Xuechen uses his powers to awaken Fu Yuanting and Duan Xiaorong. He advises Fu Lansheng to spend time with his parents while he can. When Mu Xuanling asks about their condition, Xie Xuechen explains they have exhausted their spiritual energy and are near death.
Fu Lansheng tearfully holds his parents’ hands as they tell him to live well on his own. Duan Xiaorong requests that Fu Lansheng leave, saying they wish to depart with dignity. Alone, Fu Yuanting combs Duan Xiaorong’s hair at her dressing table, and the two pass away peacefully together. Fu Yuanting places Duan Xiaorong on the bed and lies beside her as they take their final breaths.
Xie Xuechen later meets Jiang Li (Fu Cangli) and asks why he remains so loyal to He Xianwo. Fu Cangli explains that He Xianwo promised to create a harmonious world for humans and spirits. For the sake of A Bao and his wife Xiuxiu, Fu Cangli says he would do anything. A Bao interrupts, accusing Fu Cangli of acting for his own selfish reasons. She laments that because of him, Fu Lansheng is now an orphan. Heartbroken, A Bao cries.
Fu Cangli informs Xie Xuechen that He Xianwo is preparing to open the Heavenly Ladder, but he knows little else. Fu Lansheng arrives, reporting that Gao Qiumin is missing. Meanwhile, Gao Qiumin is shown being taken away by Nan Xuyue.
