Facing the villains, Yang Guangyao, unafraid, continues to threaten them to bring him into their fold. He declares he’s been framed by them and the police are already investigating, so he’s prepared to die and take them down with him. Hearing his leverage, the group begins to waver.
As the police arrive, the leader quickly calls his boss. After getting confirmation, he lowers his gun, preparing to leave with his men. Downstairs, Zhang Tianming and Chen Kaiqing, knowing they are outnumbered, have secretly alerted other police officers to pursue them.
While being forced into the car, Yang Guangyao desperately observes his surroundings, trying to memorize everything. Inside the car, a gun is held to his head, and he’s told the boss wants to be his friend and expects a “meeting gift.” Yang Guangyao remains vigilant. He’s taken to a building and, seizing an opportunity when his captors are off guard, fights back. Injured and outnumbered, he manages to escape, finds evidence in a car that clears his name, but the new police officer still refuses to reinstate him. Even Liu Weitao’s intervention is useless; he’s told to keep his subordinates in line.
After the police announce the crackdown on underground banks, Mai Zhihong, hiding in the shadows, anxiously monitors the developments online.
When Chen Kaiqing finishes her work, she gets into her mother’s car to rest. She takes this opportunity to ask about her childhood memories and mentions an orphanage. Her mother quickly interrupts her, changes the subject, and urges her to let go of the past.
Having cleared his name, Yang Guangyao finally returns to the police station. His colleagues warmly welcome him back, ready to let bygones be bygones. However, he receives a mysterious envelope in the lobby, which contains information about a dead person. They take the body back for forensic examination.
After bandaging his wounds, Yang Guangyao receives a call from Mai Zhihong. This time, he refuses to cooperate with him. Mai Zhihong hangs up, accepting their separate paths.
Mai Zhihong seeks out Mr. Shi and asks him to play a game by revealing the truth about the building fire years ago. Mr. Shi calmly confesses to bribing officials.
Mr. Shi is summoned by the police. During the interrogation, he remains calm and shows no weakness. Zhang Tianming, unable to stand it, enters the interrogation room and confronts him. Mr. Shi coldly admits to not knowing him and even reveals he caused his father’s death. Enraged, Zhang Tianming tries to attack him but is restrained by the police. Outside, Liu Weitao tries to control the damage and reprimands Zhang Tianming.
Overwhelmed by this revelation, Zhang Tianming goes outside to clear his head. After some comforting words from a bystander, he feels slightly better. As he leaves, Chen Kaiqing, unable to accept this stranger as her father, takes away his roadside stall.
The next day, everyone gets back to work. Zhang Tianming and Yang Guangyao closely monitor the Shi family. Yang Guangyao tracks down a locker and tries to investigate it at a gym. Unable to enter, he finds another way in but fails to find what he’s looking for.
