He reveals that “Ah Bao,” Mai Zhihong’s imaginary friend, stems from childhood bullying when he was constantly teased and called a crybaby, reflecting his vulnerability and low self-esteem.
Meanwhile, Ye Cheng’s partner advises him to cancel their operation, deeming it too dangerous. However, Ye Cheng acknowledges his lack of authority within the police force and chooses not to interfere with their investigation. His partner suggests dealing with Mai Zhihong, who knows their secret. Ye Cheng dismisses the idea, showing no interest in getting his hands dirty.
At night, Chen Kaiqing and Yang Guangyao continue their investigation, discussing Mai Zhihong. Chen Kaiqing expresses sympathy for his troubled past, suggesting it might have contributed to his current state. Yang Guangyao disagrees. Yang Guangyao asks Zhang Tianming to confirm whether Chen Kaiqing is his daughter. Zhang Tianming agrees and questions Chen Kaiqing. Meanwhile, Yang Guangyao sees a childhood photo of Chen Kaiqing with her adoptive parents in Canada and realizes she is indeed his daughter. Overwhelmed with emotion, he leaves the room.

Back at the police station, the investigation continues. After interviewing a survivor of the Jing Shun Building fire, they suspect “Black Ghost Tim” played a significant role in the incident. Yang Guangyao and Chen Kaiqing follow up on a lead. When Chen Kaiqing gets off the car to pursue the lead alone, she is attacked. Yang Guangyao rushes to her rescue and confronts her assailants.
