With no new leads, they hold a meeting and suspect that Yan Hua and Ma Furong conspired to lower the acquisition price of Jing Shun Building. The discussion turns to the mysterious deaths connected to the building, leaving everyone feeling uneasy. Liu Weitao assigns tasks to his team and decides to personally meet the person Yang Guangyao recognized. They continue to investigate the matter, determined to uncover the truth.
During the day, Chen Kaiqing visits the mountain alone. Zhang Tianming joins her, and they listen to music together. Yang Guangyao arrives shortly after, drawn by the familiar melody, and mentions his fondness for the song. They discuss the murder victim before heading down. Zhang Tianming offers Chen Kaiqing a ride and asks her to keep him updated on Yang Guangyao’s activities.
Yang Guangyao drives home after his investigation. While waiting at a traffic light, he notices a happy family in the car next to him, triggering a wave of sadness. He recalls a memory of his wife knitting a scarf for him, but the moment is interrupted by a phone call. The caller is Mai Zhihong, who taunts Yang Guangyao. Yang Guangyao tries to lure him out for a late-night snack, but Mai Zhihong refuses. Yang Guangyao takes a screenshot of the video call to try and identify his location.
While searching a dilapidated building, Yang Guangyao stumbles upon an old newspaper with an article about his wife’s death. He is devastated. He confronts Liu Weitao, accusing him of hiding the news and failing to care for his family. Liu Weitao expresses his helplessness in the situation.
Overwhelmed by grief, Yang Guangyao runs out, unable to accept reality. He attempts to return to his own time by jumping off a building but loses consciousness. His friends rush him to the hospital. When he wakes up, Liu Weitao reveals that his daughter was adopted by a middle-class couple but withholds their identity for privacy reasons. Learning that his daughter is in Canada, Yang Guangyao desperately pleads for help in obtaining a fake passport to find her, but his friends advise against it.
Yang Guangyao eventually recovers and resumes his investigation with Chen Kaiqing. They learn that the deceased was superstitious and had changed his name. Following this lead, they discover that Deng Jian had built a tomb for himself while still alive, explaining why he went to the mountain alone without his bodyguard.
Back at the police station, Yang Guangyao analyzes the case with his colleagues, connecting the serial killings to Jing Shun Building. However, they lack concrete evidence. Meanwhile, Mai Zhihong hides in a dark stairwell, recalling a memory of pushing someone off a cliff with a sinister smile.
