After leaving Zhong Zhao’s room, Bai Shuo notices Fan Yue waiting nearby. The two investigate together and discover the presence of evil cultivators within the Otherworldly City. Before they can probe further, they are suddenly attacked by a monster. Notably, the monster’s powers seem unaffected by the city’s spiritual prohibitions, raising Bai Shuo’s suspicions about Tian Huo’s identity. They track the creature to the Otherworldly King’s palace but are stopped by Wu Zhao. Although they suspect the creature is connected to Hua Lin, they are forced to retreat to the inn.
Back at the inn, Bai Shuo confronts Tian Huo, accusing her of being an Otherworldly person and reminding her that their arrangement with Hao Yue Hall requires mutual trust. Fan Yue admits that Tian Huo was once an Otherworldly person, but her extraordinary spiritual power remains a mystery. Despite this, Fan Yue assures Bai Shuo of Tian Huo’s loyalty, even vowing to protect Bai Shuo with his life. Bai Shuo, however, accuses him of protecting her only for the sake of the Wunian Stone, and their conversation ends on a sour note.
That night, Tian Huo sneaks into the Otherworldly King’s palace, where she encounters Wu Zhao, who is overjoyed to see her. It is revealed that Tian Huo is actually Hua Lin’s daughter, Hua Hong. Years ago, the Queen sacrificed herself for the city, fueling Hua Hong’s hatred toward her father, Hua Lin, and Wu Zhao, her mother’s sworn brother, for their inaction. Her bitterness drove her to leave the city and join the demon clan. Now, however, Tian Huo’s return is not for reconciliation but to question Wu Zhao about the monster and the second Heart Flame. Wu Zhao denies all knowledge. Their tense conversation is interrupted by Hua Lin’s sudden appearance. The father and daughter reunite after years of separation, but their meeting quickly devolves into a heated argument. Hua Lin angrily orders Tian Huo to leave the city, unaware that his harshness masks deep concern.
Tian Huo reports her findings to Fan Yue, who determines that finding the Heart Flames must take precedence. Meanwhile, Zhong Zhao approaches Bai Shuo, warning her that something is amiss in the city, especially since Fu Ling is present. He urges her to leave immediately. Bai Shuo, angry at his concealment of Fu Ling’s involvement, rebukes him and demands honesty in the future. Upon leaving Bai Shuo’s room, Zhong Zhao runs into Fan Yue, and both are visibly troubled by their respective dilemmas.
The following morning, Hua Yong sends pastries to his sister Tian Huo through an intermediary. Tian Huo angrily rejects the gesture, smashing the pastries and declaring she will never forgive him. Fan Yue prevents Bai Shuo from intervening, so Bai Shuo decides to investigate the second Heart Flame herself. She questions Hu Er’s mother about the monster and the Heart Flame, learning that the monster has been appearing for seven years. As Bai Shuo prepares to leave, she realizes Fan Yue has been quietly protecting her all along, softening their strained relationship.
Elsewhere, Fu Ling visits Hua Lin at the Otherworldly King’s palace. She commends him for using a blood ritual on the Otherworldly King’s Sword to prematurely spawn two Heart Flames but urges him to act faster to prevent complications.
That night, a shadowy figure appears above the inn. Bai Shuo and the others, including the immortals and demons, chase it to the Otherworldly Tomb. The figure vanishes, leaving them to confront the tomb’s guardian, Rong Xian. Initially appearing as an elderly man, Rong Xian transforms into a young man upon discovering the immortals’ and demons’ intent to seize the second Heart Flame. A fierce battle ensues. Mu Jiu, the young master of the Fox Clan, attempts to avenge the Fox Clan and Saintess Linglong but fails in his sneak attack on Rong Xian. The group is overpowered, and many are turned into stone statues.
As Hua Lin’s daughter, Tian Huo remains unaffected. However, Fan Yue, Bai Shuo, Bei Chen, and Mu Jiu are drawn into Rong Xian’s resentment realm due to the influence of the Wunian Stone. They find themselves transported back a thousand years. In this altered reality, Bai Shuo, Fan Yue, and Bei Chen become the younger sister and guards of Linglong, the Fox Clan’s saintess. Although they are ostensibly visiting Kunlun for peace talks, their true goal is to steal the Kunlun Snow Lotus to extend their clan leader’s life. Meanwhile, Mu Jiu, transformed from the Fox Clan’s young master to a Kunlun disciple, encounters the original Kunlun Saint, Rong Xian.
The shifts in their identities are manifestations of Rong Xian’s lingering will. The real Rong Xian and Linglong died a millennium ago. To break free from the resentment realm, they must relive the events from life to death and uncover the truth behind the tragedy.
