Moonlight Mystique – Episode 34 Recap/Review

Bai Shuo cures Fu Ling, mourns Fan Yue’s death, reconciles Fu Ling with Tianhuo, and confronts Jin Yao, deepening bonds and facing losses.

The Haoyue Palace welcomed a grand celebration night. The surroundings were adorned with lanterns and colorful decorations, with fireworks splendidly blooming. The vibrant lights illuminated the dark sky, making it appear as bright as day. However, at this beautiful moment, Fan Yue was originally going to propose to Bai Shuo, but he felt it was somewhat untimely. Seeing this, Bai Shuo took the flowers and publicly proposed to Fan Yue instead. Both of them harbored unspeakable pain in their hearts, and under everyone’s gaze, they embraced and kissed with tears in their eyes.

Tianhuo and the others sensed something was wrong. Fan Yue had no choice but to reveal the truth to Tianhuo, believing that separation and death are also normal occurrences, hoping that everyone can find their own joy, peace, and direction. After bidding farewell to Tianhuo, Fan Yue took Bai Shuo to admire the beautiful scenery on the extreme mountain cliffs, accompanied by the coolness of the night, as if there was only each other in the world.

As Fan Yue’s body gradually weakened, he sat beside Bai Shuo, each breath seeming to drain all his strength. Bai Shuo promised to live well. Fan Yue took the initiative to embrace Bai Shuo, expressing that he would always be there, transforming into stars and moons, into every gust of wind passing by Bai Shuo, forever accompanying her. Finally, Fan Yue uttered the words “I love you” and passed away in Bai Shuo’s arms.

At that moment, the Wunian Stone suddenly flickered, and Bai Shuo was transported into the Moon Hidden Sea. There, she learned that the white-haired man she had once considered her benefactor was named Xiuyan, who was actually a deity of the Night Clan. Xiuyan told Bai Shuo that the time had come, and he could not save Fan Yue because he had died 60,000 years ago. Now, he was merely a divine soul, existing solely to guard the Moon Hidden Sea and Bai Shuo.

Xiuyan told Bai Shuo that only by truly understanding the significance of the Moon Hidden Sea could she glimpse the divine path, break through the divine realm, and return to the mortal world to fulfill her destined tasks. To this end, Xiuyan recounted to Bai Shuo the events that occurred 60,000 years ago, when the gods in the heavens were divided into three factions: Night, Demon, and Hidden.

The Hidden Clan was brutal and bloodthirsty, the Demon Clan was arrogant and unruly, while the Night Clan took it upon themselves to maintain the Divine Realm and protect all beings. For many years, the Demon and Hidden Clans repeatedly provoked and fought incessantly, each striving to unify the Divine Realm. However, the Night Clan possessed the most powerful artifact in the Divine Realm, the “Xingyue Divine Bow.” Under the divine bow’s power, even the Demon God Jing Yuan and the Hidden Lord Mo Li could not rival its might. Thus, for ten thousand years, the Demon and Hidden Clans have tried every means to destroy the Xingyue Divine Bow, but fortunately, the bow was guarded by the Xingyue Goddess, making it nearly impregnable.

Xingyue, as the strongest main deity in the Night Clan, controlled the Wunian Stone that regulated the divine bow’s barrier, and only she knew the bow’s location. Later, during a martial competition in the Celestial Dome, the Night Clan elders selected three young divine warriors to become their appointed divine attendants. Jing Yuan, through his bold confession, caught Xingyue’s attention and thus became Xingyue’s new divine attendant, receiving the Flame Moon Jade Ring as a gift from her.

All along, Xingyue preferred peace and simplicity, but Jing Yuan diligently sought out things she liked, attempting to draw closer to her. However, Xingyue had a cold and indifferent temperament, desiring nothing from anything. Therefore, under the pretext of the Shangyuan Night (a festive night), Jing Yuan took Xingyue to the Moon Hidden Sea to drink and watch the stars. Xingyue directly exposed Jing Yuan’s identity as a Demon God and used the power of the stars to form a formation that trapped him.

Subsequently, Xingyue went to fulfill a thousand-year pact with the Hidden Lord Mo Li. Jing Yuan kindly reminded her that Mo Li had previously secluded himself to practice a certain secret art. Xingyue felt some inner turmoil but maintained her cold exterior. Mo Li admired Xingyue and hoped she would marry him so they could jointly control the Divine Realm. However, Xingyue had no interest. Even though she defeated Mo Li, she was still injured by his Hidden Power.

Bai Shuo noticed that Mo Li’s appearance was identical to Zhong Zhao’s, leaving her greatly shocked and forcing her to confront that he bore the divine status of the Hidden Lord. Because Xingyue had developed feelings, the power of the Wunian Stone weakened. Jing Yuan found the injured and unconscious Xingyue and unexpectedly discovered the location of the divine bow. Originally, Jing Yuan intended to destroy the divine bow, but he changed his mind. Therefore, Jing Yuan treated Xingyue and obtained the Jiu Ling Fu Qu to aid her in her recovery.
