Moonlight Mystique – Episode 25 Recap/Review

Cang Shan sacrifices himself to save the Stone Tribe, while Shen Ye’s revenge deepens. Bai Shuo uncovers vital truths about her clan.

After emerging from Shen Ye’s consciousness, Bai Shuo eagerly presses for Bai Xi’s whereabouts, but Shen Ye refuses to reveal anything. However, Bai Shuo notices Shen Ye’s subconscious affection for Fan Yue. Years ago, the Bai Ze clan leader had entrusted Shen Ye with protecting Fan Yue with his life. Even during his imprisonment by the Tiger Tribe, Shen Ye never betrayed Fan Yue despite his confusion and fear. Enraged, Shen Ye denies these feelings.

In the stone formation, Fan Yue, under the influence of the mother worm, repeatedly attacks Cang Shan. Just as Cang Shan is on the brink of death, Bai Shuo arrives in time to wake Fan Yue from his trance. Shen Ye retaliates by commanding Fan Yue to attack Bai Shuo and extract the Wu Nian Stone. To stop him, Cang Shan draws his blade and threatens Shen Ye, only for Shen Ye to counter by threatening the lives of the entire Stone Tribe.

Watching his people perish one by one, Cang Shan is overcome with grief and kneels to beg Shen Ye for mercy. Shen Ye remains unmoved. Teaming up with Bai Shuo, Cang Shan forces the mother worm out of Fan Yue’s body and into his own. Determined to protect his tribe and end all grudges, Cang Shan sacrifices himself by detonating the worm within him, dying in the process.

The Stone Tribe falls unconscious as the explosion destroys the stone formation, releasing the suppressed Bai Ze resentment. The resentment enters Bai Shuo’s forehead, overwhelming her with hatred and causing her to lose consciousness. After Cang Shan’s death, only a single stone remains of him. Fan Yue clutches it tightly, devastated.

Lan Ling’s Secret Investigation

Elsewhere, Zhong Zhao transmits the secret of the ancient mirror hidden in Tian Yu’s room to Lan Ling. Following the mirror’s patterns and other clues, Jin Yao and her group suspect that Tian Yu might be connected to the ancient Hidden Clan and has ambitions of becoming a god. Although they lack concrete evidence, Jin Yao realizes the risks are too great and decides to summon the 72 Immortal Sects for a confrontation.

Bai Shuo’s Recovery and Hidden Truths

Fan Yue brings the unconscious Bai Shuo back to the Bright Moon Palace, where she remains unresponsive, leaving him anxious. In her dream, Bai Shuo finds herself in a Bai Ze village, where she meets Gu Shang and other Bai Ze clan members. Initially wary of the outsider, the villagers change their stance when Gu Shang steps forward, revealing that he has been waiting for Bai Shuo for a long time.

The Tiger Tribe’s Revenge

Tian Huo tracks down the surviving members of the Tiger Tribe and learns of Cang Shan’s death. Enraged, she vows to kill Shen Ye in revenge. Fan Yue intervenes, reminding Tian Huo that although the mother worm is dead, the sub-worms still reside within the Stone Tribe members. Fan Yue takes Shen Ye to a secret room filled with Bai Ze clan memorial plaques, hoping to compel Shen Ye to let go of his hatred. Shen Ye, however, stubbornly declares that the entire Stone Tribe must pay with their lives.

After leaving the room, Fan Yue joins Tian Huo to mourn Cang Shan. Calmed, Tian Huo brings Arno, a Tiger Tribe orphan, to recount the destruction of the Tiger Tribe. According to Arno, the massacre was ordered by a demon lord—Shen Ye. However, Arno’s father, the Tiger King, had always followed orders from a mysterious figure with a black snake tattoo. Shen Ye suddenly recalls seeing a similar mark on Tian Yu’s arm and begins to suspect his former master.

Tian Yu’s Manipulations

Meanwhile, Tian Yu summons Zhong Zhao and injects him with demonic and hidden clan powers, severing his ties to the Immortal Clan and forcing him to learn a hybrid technique of immortal and demonic arts. Zhong Zhao tries in vain to expel the demonic energy from his body and realizes he can no longer return to Lan Ling. He urges Fu Ling to leave Cold Spring Palace, but she decides to stay and face the future with him.

A Conversation with Gu Shang

Back in her vision, Bai Shuo questions Gu Shang about why he knows her. Gu Shang explains that the Bai Ze resentment was suppressed by the stone formation and could not communicate with others. Only through the Wu Nian Stone could he reach Bai Shuo. He expresses relief that Bai Shuo is with Fan Yue and, before the Bai Ze clan fades entirely, reveals the truth about the boy with violet eyes.
