Yi Beichen recounts events from a thousand years ago: Bai Shuo learns about a fox tribe maiden, Linglong, who entered Kunlun and fell in love with the Holy Son, Rongxian. However, the feud between the celestial and demon tribes made their love unacceptable. The two chose to live in seclusion, away from worldly conflicts. One day, Linglong stormed into the Kunlun sect and massacred many. Rongxian, upon hearing the news, killed Linglong and then rampaged through the Jingyou Mountains.
To permanently break the cycle of resentment, Bai Shuo proposes preventing Linglong and Rongxian from falling in love. However, for now, she decides to accompany Linglong to meet Rongxian. Linglong plans to use her beauty to charm Rongxian and obtain the Snow Lotus. Bai Shuo deliberately interrupts their conversation at a banquet to divert Rongxian’s attention toward herself.
Meanwhile, outside the banquet hall, Mu Jiu and Beichen meet and are shocked to discover they’ve both been drawn into the cycle of resentment. Linglong leaves the hall and finds Mu Jiu, who is especially attentive toward her. Amused, she misunderstands that Rongxian has fallen in love with Bai Shuo at first sight. This misunderstanding drives Fan Yue into a jealous rage, causing him to storm into the banquet. Linglong then mistakenly assumes Bai Shuo and Fan Yue have feelings for each other.
To conceal his identity, Fan Yue plays along. Linglong, wishing to support her younger sister’s supposed feelings, decides to distract Rongxian herself while arranging for Bai Shuo and Fan Yue to steal the Snow Lotus. Bai Shuo and Fan Yue secretly communicate, and Fan Yue suggests completing their mission as quickly as possible to bring Linglong back to the fox tribe and reduce her chances of falling for Rongxian.
Elsewhere, Kunlun elders capture Beichen and subject him to a whipping, trying to extract the fox tribe’s true intentions. Beichen, unable to speak up for himself, suffers silently. Mu Jiu, watching with delight, even personally joins in whipping him.
As night falls, Rongxian accepts an invitation to have tea with Linglong. They converse happily. Meanwhile, Fan Yue and Bai Shuo arrive at the snowy mountain and dispel a formation to retrieve the Snow Lotus, only to be ambushed by Kunlun disciples. Hearing the alarm bell, Linglong realizes the ambush and angrily confronts Rongxian. To her surprise, Rongxian reveals that they had met once before.
Ten years earlier, Rongxian, gravely injured, had fainted in Qingling Mountain, where Linglong saved him. As his face was covered in dirt and grime, Linglong doesn’t recognize him now. Rongxian, aware that Linglong needs the Snow Lotus to save her tribe’s elder, willingly offers it to her. Linglong, shocked and touched, remembers his kindness.
Fan Yue avoids fighting the Kunlun disciples by teleporting through the realm of resentment. However, he is ultimately unable to prevent Linglong and Rongxian from developing feelings for each other. In the next moment, Rongxian’s obsession sends the four of them three years into the future, where Linglong and Rongxian are already married and living in seclusion. Though they occasionally bicker, their deep love allows them to overlook flaws and see only the best in each other. Initially, Bai Shuo and Fan Yue continue trying to separate them, but they begin to understand love through the couple’s example.
Linglong is now pregnant but hasn’t yet told Rongxian. As she prepares to share the good news, Rongxian receives word from Kunlun that his master is gravely ill and near death. The sect leader wishes for Rongxian to take his place, but Rongxian firmly refuses, stating that the endless bloodshed between the celestial and demon tribes must stop. He vows to uphold his promise of a lifetime with Linglong.
Unyielding, the sect leader, with the elders’ help, forcibly transfers all his spiritual energy to Rongxian and alters his memories, turning his love for Linglong into hatred. Outside, Mu Jiu witnesses everything. Under the memory’s influence, Rongxian believes the fox tribe killed his parents and storms into Jingyou Mountain, unleashing a massacre. Beichen tries to stop him but is severely injured.
Linglong senses her tribe is in danger. Before leaving, she tells Bai Shuo to cherish those around her and live happily with Fan Yue in Wangyou Valley. Linglong then returns to Jingyou Mountain, where she is fatally stabbed by Rongxian. Her blood splashes into Rongxian’s eyes, restoring his memories and clarity. Realizing that Linglong was pregnant, he is devastated to find that he has killed his wife and unborn child, leaving him overwhelmed with grief.
