Zheng Hao, without consulting Xiuya, takes the liberty of inviting Manager Hu and Mr. Gao to dinner to apologize on her behalf, putting the whole incident to rest and preventing it from reaching the chairman. Xiuya is furious when she learns about this, criticizing Zheng Hao for not discussing it with her beforehand. What makes her even sadder is that despite yesterday’s uproar, nothing has changed because of Zheng Hao’s interference. She feels trapped, shrouded in a net of control, and despairs over how to prove her own competence.
At this moment, she comes across a company policy that encourages employees to gain practical experience by working at branch offices in other cities. She writes a self-recommendation letter, applying for a transfer. Manager Hu asks if she has discussed this with Zheng Hao, but Xiuya emphasizes that she can make her own decisions. Zheng Hao is shocked because he had no idea that Xiuya had applied for a year-long transfer to another city. Xiuya explains her reasons for wanting to work at a branch office. Zheng Hao’s mother initially expresses approval for her ambition but immediately adds that she shouldn’t act rashly.
