Old Mrs. Yun looked at the half-embroidered orchid on her handkerchief, wondering how Milan, a nurse, could have such nimble fingers. Jingyu, beside her, remarked that by the time Old Mrs. Yun finished embroidering the handkerchief, Yun Hongqi and Milan might already be engaged. Old Mrs. Yun questioned, “Engaged?” Jingyu confirmed, explaining that she heard from Xiaodao that Milan had agreed, but Yun Hongqi was still in mourning and could not get engaged or married. Old Mrs. Yun pondered, growing increasingly uneasy about Milan. She felt she couldn’t let Yun Hongqi blindly tie his future to this girl. Old Mrs. Yun instructed Jingyu to call Milan and ask her to come over, saying she would finish the handkerchief today and give it to her.
Jingyu immediately made the call, and Milan arrived shortly after. She asked Jingyu if Yun Hongqi and Yun Hongshen were home, and Jingyu told her they weren’t. Milan thought to herself that it was better with only Old Mrs. Yun at home, as she could dispel any suspicions the old woman might have. Milan saw Old Mrs. Yun looking through old photo albums. Old Mrs. Yun said that old people like to reminisce. She told Milan who the people in the photos were, mentioning that Yun Hongshen and Yun Hongqi both attended Mingde Primary School as children. She then asked Milan which primary school she attended. Milan realized that Old Mrs. Yun was indeed suspicious of her. She quickly made up a name, Chayuan Street Primary School, claiming that unfortunately, the Wenxi Fire had burned the school to the ground.
Old Mrs. Yun said she had photos of Chayuan Street Primary School and would look for them. She mentioned that the school had a well with very sweet water and asked Milan if she remembered where the well was. Milan fabricated a memory, saying that their teacher used to use the well water to chill watermelons for them, but she was too short at the time and couldn’t compete with the other students. Upon hearing this, Old Mrs. Yun’s expression changed, but she quickly recovered and said with a smile that Milan’s height was just right now. As they were chatting, Jingui arrived. Milan excused herself, saying she should leave since they had a guest.
After Milan left, Jingui took out a ginseng root, hoping to discuss business with Old Mrs. Yun. Old Mrs. Yun stated that she didn’t handle those matters; Yun Hongqi was in charge. Jingui said she knew that Yun Hongqi listened to his grandmother, so she wanted her to put in a good word. Old Mrs. Yun questioned why she should do that, to which Jingui proposed they make money together, offering the Yun family a 30% share. Old Mrs. Yun declared that their family wouldn’t earn dirty money and told Jingui to leave and not come back. Old Mrs. Yun immediately called Yun Hongqi, asking him to return home as she had something important to discuss. She also told Jingyu to find Yun Hongshen and tell him to come back quickly.
Sitting in the rickshaw, Milan couldn’t shake the feeling that Old Mrs. Yun wouldn’t have asked those questions without a reason. She told the rickshaw driver to take her to Chayuan Street Primary School. The driver said that the school had long been burned down, so there was no point in going there. Milan insisted, saying she wanted to confirm whether the well at the entrance was still there. The rickshaw driver informed her that there was no well at the entrance of Chayuan Street Primary School; the school with the well was Mingde Primary School. Milan realized she had been tricked and urged the driver to take her back to where she had gotten on.
Yun Hongshen was searching for evidence at Ling Han’s house when Wen Yeming arrived and told him that Old Mrs. Yun urgently needed him to return home. She said she would take care of the remaining matters and keep them confidential. Milan returned to the Yun residence, startling Old Mrs. Yun. Milan offered to make her a cup of tea, secretly poisoning it. After Old Mrs. Yun drank the tea, Milan revealed her true colors, but it was too late. Old Mrs. Yun died, her last thoughts filled with worry for Yun Hongqi.
When Yun Hongqi and Yun Hongshen rushed home, they found Old Mrs. Yun dead. The two brothers were heartbroken. Yun Hongshen noticed the orchid handkerchief on the table and saw an unfinished “mi” character in the embroidery. He recalled his grandmother asking him about Milan earlier and realized that Milan was the murderer. Enraged, Yun Hongshen turned to seek revenge on Milan, but Wen Yeming arrived in time to stop him. She asked Yun Hongshen who the murderer was, offering to avenge him. Wen Yeming speculated that Old Mrs. Yun might have been silenced because she knew something, possibly related to the secret key. Yun Hongshen, thinking that Milan might be the key to finding Kunwu, did not go after her. Wen Yeming went to the hospital to question Milan, who tearfully claimed that she had left the Yun residence early.
