Begin Again – Episode 17 Recap/Review

A wedding sparks heartfelt moments, career debates, and romantic gestures, while relationships deepen and tensions unfold.

On the day before Xu Jiajia’s wedding, Tang Wei took the initiative to find her daughter and followed tradition by combing her hair. This sparked a wave of emotions, as she suddenly realized how quickly her daughter had grown up and was now getting married. At this moment, Li Meng personally came to deliver a gift to Xu Jiajia. The three women spent the bachelorette night drinking and confiding in one another.

During their conversation, Xu Jiajia revealed that Xu Junhao wanted her to quit her job after marriage. Li Meng strongly opposed this idea, using her own life as an example to caution Xu Jiajia not to sacrifice her youth and dreams for the sake of family. Tang Wei, however, had a different perspective, arguing that work is equally time-consuming and exhausting. She felt that trying to balance a career and household responsibilities would be overwhelming. Watching the two women debate endlessly, Xu Jiajia concluded that they were both envying the path they hadn’t chosen.

Meanwhile, Chen Shiyu encountered Xu Jianming at a quiet bar. He mentioned Tang Wei’s company, Tianqin Entertainment, and suggested that Xu Jianming’s participation as a guest on a program would significantly boost its performance. After a long conversation, Xu Jianming reflected on his own complex and bewildering marriage. Unexpectedly, he agreed to join the program. Xu Jianming admitted to Chen Shiyu that he often neglected the most important people around him, taking their efforts for granted, and despite all these years, he still felt like a child.

Later that night, Li Meng sat alone in her room, weeping under the influence of alcohol. She confessed years of pent-up dissatisfaction to Xu Jianming. While admitting her love for him, she pointed out that she had never felt seen in his eyes. After much thought, she decided to stop holding on to their marriage. Meanwhile, Tang Wei danced freely on the street until Chen Shiyu appeared, carried her on his back, and walked her home.

Soon, the day of Xu Junhao and Xu Jiajia’s wedding arrived. A-Zhen helped Xu Zhiqiang tie his tie and dress in a suit. Both were meticulously dressed for the occasion. The wedding venue was bustling, with guests arriving in a steady stream. Xu Junle acted as the videographer, capturing the couple’s sweet and joyful moments.

Under the watchful eyes of the crowd, Xu Jiajia walked arm-in-arm with her father to the stage. Listening to Xu Junhao’s heartfelt vows, they exchanged rings and officially became husband and wife. The attendees were deeply moved and showered them with blessings. The wedding continued into the evening. During a private moment, Mai Youge told Xu Junle that she was about to leave Macau and took the chance to express her feelings. However, Xu Junle urged patience, suggesting they wait for the right time for their relationship. Touched by his words, Mai Youge hugged him tightly.

Elsewhere, Chen Jiahui learned that the race car drivers were checking out of their hotels, signaling Han Junhao’s imminent departure from Macau. Isabella, believing that love should bring people together, urged Chen Jiahui to seize the opportunity. However, Chen Jiahui, ever cautious and reserved, acknowledged that their biggest issue was their inability to compromise. She decided to leave things to fate, believing they might meet again if destined.

At the wedding banquet, everyone drank and celebrated freely. Xu Zhiqiang raised his glass and gave a heartfelt toast. Moved by his words and slightly inebriated, Xu Jianming also stood up. He jokingly remarked on entrusting his beloved daughter to a man he barely knew, describing his feelings as complicated. Nonetheless, he acknowledged that Xu Junhao was a good man. He advised the young couple that marriage is not about passion but about the day-to-day commitment, warning them not to let life’s monotony erode their love. He urged them to never stop dating, never stop embracing, and always say “I love you.”

As music played, Xu Junhao led Xu Jiajia to the dance floor, surrounded by cheers. Xu Zhiqiang and A-Zhen, Xu Jianming and Li Meng, and others joined the dance floor. The only one looking forlorn was Chen Jiahui. Just as she was about to leave, she heard a familiar melody and voice. Turning back, she saw Han Junhao singing her favorite song, and in that moment, all past misunderstandings dissolved.
