Back for You Episode 4 Recap: Ale Successfully Finds the Killer

Ale's comic clue solves murder; Amin conquers blood fear. Lives saved, but at a cost. Tense drama with a mix of heroism and tragedy.

The police are investigating a recent series of brutal midnight murders where the killer targets drunk women, binding them, draining their blood slowly, and then disposing of their bodies. The superintendent initially wanted Ale to investigate the case, but Ajia took it over. Ale, unfazed, goes to the hospital to continue reading stories to Luna. This time, there’s a story in the book that hadn’t been there before, which Ale finds odd. Upon flipping to the first page, he realizes it’s connected to the midnight murder case the police are investigating. He starts reading the story to Luna, where the main characters are Jia Hua and Chun Ying.

Jia Hua is a sailor, and Chun Ying is a doctor; they are lovers, but Jia Hua has been missing for over a year, and Chun Ying has been waiting for him. After finishing her shift, Chun Ying misses the last bus and has to walk home with a colleague, unaware that someone is following them. Patrolling police notice a suspicious person and start chasing him, prompting Chun Ying to hurry home with her colleague, knowing about the dangers of the midnight murders.

A few days later, Chun Ying and her colleague go to a dance hall. Not knowing how to dance, Chun Ying sits at the bar to relax alone but is approached by a former classmate who once had a crush on her. She shows no interest, causing him to leave in disappointment. However, he secretly drugs her drink. Jia Hua, who has been following Chun Ying, notices this, and when the classmate leaves, he pretends to be drunk and bumps into Chun Ying, spilling the drugged drink. Chun Ying doesn’t recognize him and orders another drink. This encounter leads to Jia Hua being spotted by members of the Cao Gang, who have been hunting him, thinking he pocketed their opium. During the fight, Jia Hua gets injured but manages to escape.

Chun Ying, now quite drunk, leaves the dance hall and is accosted by the same classmate with bad intentions. Jia Hua intervenes just in time and takes her to a hotel in a chauffeur-driven car. After settling Chun Ying in, Jia Hua goes to the bathroom to tend to his wounds. When Chun Ying wakes up, she doesn’t recognize her surroundings at first due to the dim light, but once Jia Hua turns on the light, she realizes it’s her long-awaited lover. She embraces him, accidentally touching his wound. While she’s about to treat it, the driver knocks, claiming he’s there to return a forgotten bag. Unsuspecting, Chun Ying opens the door, only to be attacked by the driver.

Jia Hua, despite his injury, fights back, but he’s no match for the assailant. They are quickly overpowered, and the murderer prepares to slit Chun Ying’s throat. Jia Hua manages to free himself using a hidden knife. Before the murderer can act, members of the Cao Gang, Big Beard and Thin Monkey, arrive, thinking Jia Hua has betrayed them by keeping the opium. The opium was supposed to be disguised as wine, but it was switched by someone else. Jia Hua was framed, his colleague killed, and he had to flee by jumping into the water. He’s been on the run, not contacting Chun Ying to keep her safe.

A chaotic fight ensues where the murderer kills Thin Monkey, and Jia Hua, to save Chun Ying, kills both Big Beard and the murderer. Mortally wounded, Jia Hua asks Chun Ying to take him to their favorite sunrise spot on the mountain. There, as the sun rises, he dies in her arms, no longer needing to hide.

Back to reality, Ale, recalling the details from the comic, suspects the chauffeur at the dance hall might be the killer. He immediately contacts his colleagues at the police station. Ajia arrives and finds the murder weapon in the trunk of a chauffeur’s car at the dance hall, solving the case. The superintendent now regards Ale with new respect. Ale claims his information came from a beautiful informant whose identity he can’t disclose for her protection….
