Da Bing met a female guest named Man Man, who found him amusingly simple. Da Bing was attracted to her beauty. His father noticed something off between Da Bing and Man Man, warning him not to trust others or make friends lightly, as they were all insincere due to differing social statuses. Da Bing, tired of being controlled by his father, began to resist. His father, no longer able to stay, decided to leave with Da Bing. They encountered an old acquaintance who mentioned Da Bing’s mother, making Da Bing realize his father had never spoken of her. He persistently questioned his father, only to be given drugged milk and dream that his father killed his mother. The next day, he found that the acquaintance from the previous day had also been killed by his father. In a panic, he ran into Man Man, pulling her into a room for safety, fearing his father would kill her too. However, his father broke down the door and killed Man Man.
But none of these acts were committed by Da Bing’s father. After being humiliated by a customer, Da Bing wanted to leave the hotel in defiance, but during a scuffle on the road, his father pushed him out of the way of an oncoming car, getting injured himself. This incident caused Da Bing to develop a split personality, one being Da Bing and the other his father.

The man with the gold watch, his colleague A Long, and Man Man were all killed by Da Bing. His fantasy that Man Man liked him was false; she was merely toying with him. He tied her up, forced her to say she liked him, and kissed him, then killed her. As for his mother, she wasn’t killed by his father but had abandoned them. Da Bing wanted revenge because the police officer who arrested him was Alei, and the person who wrote the story providing the clues was Luna. Alei, in an attempt to save Luna, engaged in a fierce fight with Da Bing. During the fight, the lighter fell out, and Luna remembered that she had traveled back 29 years because of this lighter. Seizing the moment, she picked it up, and upon clicking it, Da Bing seemed to burn away and disappear. Luna and Alei then used the newspaper to travel back 20 years to the Old Friend Hotel, just in time to hear Man Man’s cries for help. Luna urged Alei to save her. In the struggle, Da Bing took a little girl hostage. Alei calmed Da Bing down before disarming him, and fortunately, other police arrived in time, led by Aga, to apprehend Da Bing. Alei quickly pulled Luna away.
The little girl who was rescued picked up the lighter from the ground, but Alei had left too quickly for her to give it to him. This little girl was Luna 20 years ago, before she took on her pen name, still called Man Ru.
