The White Olive Tree – Episode 5 Recap: The Hotel Faces Another Bomb Threat

Bomb threat, heroic rescues, and emotional bonds unfold as Li Zan, Song Ran, and Sasin face danger, showcasing bravery and growth. Viral photo sparks change.

The hotel is in crisis due to a bomb threat, and Sasin urgently searches for Song Ran. His face is filled with anxiety as he reveals that his mother, Lena, is in the hotel, while the bomb is located on the floor below. Sasin tries to rush into the hotel but is stopped by soldiers. Seeing this, Benjamin immediately orders the soldiers to let Sasin through.

Song Ran follows closely behind, entering the hotel with Sasin. Inside, they find Lena still busily tidying up guests’ belongings, completely unaware of the impending danger. Sasin, frantic with worry, tries to pull Lena away, but she stubbornly insists on finishing her work, fearing that losing these valuable items would cost her job. Sasin is deeply frustrated, feeling it’s unfair that the guests, who only care about their own safety, have put Lena in such a perilous situation. Song Ran joins in persuading Lena, and finally, after taking Sasin’s trophy with her, Lena agrees to evacuate with them.

At this moment, the hotel manager arrives in a hurry, visibly angry, scolding Lena for focusing on “trivial” items while neglecting the guests’ valuables. Benjamin steps in, grabbing the manager and suggesting that if the guests’ belongings are so important, the manager should retrieve them himself. However, this is all part of Benjamin’s plan—the bomb has already been successfully disarmed, and Li Zan had known about it earlier. When the guests later try to confront Lena, Sasin and Song Ran firmly stand their ground, protecting her.

As Song Ran and Li Zan return, Song Ran remains concerned about Lena’s job prospects. Li Zan comforts her, saying that some things can’t be changed overnight, and all they can do is stay vigilant. Just then, Xiya rushes over, informing them of an explosion nearby. Her friend Solon is trapped in the wreckage, and his condition is unknown. Li Zan and Song Ran immediately head to the scene to rescue him.

After a preliminary examination, the doctor confirms that Solon is not in critical condition but needs to be taken to the hospital for further checks. Li Zan carefully carries Solon to the ambulance, with Xiya following closely, holding Solon’s hand tightly. This scene deeply moves Song Ran, and she can’t help but capture the precious moment with her camera. Since Xiya is not Solon’s immediate family, she can’t ride in the ambulance with him. Instead, she places a ring on Solon’s finger, declaring herself his wife. Li Zan explains their deep bond to the doctor, who makes an exception and allows Xiya to accompany Solon.

Song Ran offers an apple to Li Zan, symbolizing peace and wishing to share it with him. While tending to the wounds he sustained during the heroic rescue, Song Ran realizes that professional medical treatment is needed and can only bandage his hand temporarily. Li Zan decides to seek medical attention, and Song Ran suggests going with him, planning to interview Jiang Lin along the way. However, Jiang Lin’s brother calls, expressing concern, and Li Zan, not wanting to worry him, requests to reschedule. Understanding the situation, Song Ran agrees, and they decide to head to the hospital first.

At the hospital, Benjamin and his group run into Dr. Pei Xiaonan. Initially, Benjamin mistakes her for a nurse, but when he learns she is a Chinese doctor who understands him, he is both surprised and delighted. When Dr. Pei suggests stitching the wound and administering a tetanus vaccine, Benjamin refuses anesthesia, insisting on being stitched up directly. As Dr. Pei removes her mask, Benjamin is captivated by her beauty.

While visiting Jiang Lin, Li Zan reveals his intention to go to Hapu. Jiang Lin is shocked, feeling that the unstable situation in Hapu makes it unsuitable for a volunteer like Li Zan. However, Li Zan remains resolute, stating that this is his choice. Inspired by Li Zan’s determination, Jiang Lin decides to join him, ready to face the unknown challenges ahead, fearless and undeterred by difficulties.

Meanwhile, Song Ran receives good news: the photo she took has caused a sensation online. When her team leader, Shen Bei, learns of this, she volunteers to go to East Asia to gain experience and hone her skills. The director agrees, but Shen Bei has a hidden motive that no one knows about.
