After much anticipation, iQIYI’s latest military romance drama, The White Olive Tree, is set to premiere on February 1.
The show reunites popular actors Chen Zheyuan and Liang Jie, who previously starred together in the costume series Handsome Siblings. Fans are excited to see the chemistry between the two leads once again.
In addition to Chen and Liang, The White Olive Tree features a talented cast including Wang Tianchen, Gu Zicheng, Zheng Yingchen, and Liu Yongxi.
The White Olive Tree is based on the novel “Bai Se Gan Lan Shu” by Jiu Yue Xi. The drama follows the journey of Song Ran (played by Liang Jie), a brave reporter from Liangcheng Satellite TV. While on an interview mission in a troubled eastern country, Song Ran faces danger and is rescued by Li Zan (played by Chen Zheyuan), a Chinese-American explosives engineer volunteering for the mission.
As they work together, Song Ran and Li Zan develop a strong bond, finding common goals and mutual respect. Despite facing challenges, including a bomb attack that separates them for months, their paths cross again in China during difficult times. Together, they support each other, overcoming obstacles and symbolizing their growing romance by planting an olive tree.
The White Olive Tree promises a compelling mix of romance and action, highlighting themes of love, bravery, and resilience. Viewers can look forward to an engaging story that combines emotional depth with thrilling moments.
