Moonlight Mystique – Episode 35 Recap/Review

Bai Shuo heals Fu Ling and Fan Yue, sisters reunite, but Fan Yue loses his powers. Xing Yue's emotions weaken her divine strength. Tensions rise.

Jing Yuan proposes a fair duel with Xing Yue, stating that if she wins, he will never contemplate destroying the Divine Bow again, and the Demon Clan will cease all hostilities against the Night Clan. Xing Yue agrees to the duel, causing Xiuyan to become anxious, as he knows that the turmoil of the Wunian Stone signifies that Xing Yue’s mind and body are wavering.

Subsequently, Xiuyan discovers that Jing Yuan has been nourishing the Jiu Ling Fu Qu with his blood to help Xing Yue eliminate the hidden power within her. He suddenly realizes Jing Yuan’s deep care for Xing Yue. Because of this, Xing Yue and Jing Yuan have grown increasingly close over the past century, often enjoying wine and playing chess together. The Jiu Ling Fu Qu gradually gains intelligence and transforms into Luan Zhu, who watches from the shadows. Xing Yue rarely smiles at Jing Yuan anymore, no longer appearing as cold as before.

Bai Shuo is shocked to learn why Xing Yue’s hidden power has been unable to dissipate for a hundred years. Xiuyan explains that Xing Yue had already eliminated the hidden power in her tenth year, and day after day, both parties tacitly agreed to no longer mention the duel. Perhaps a hundred years may seem long to humans, but for deities, it is but a fleeting moment. Without Xing Yue and Jing Yuan realizing it, their feelings have deeply rooted themselves, making it difficult to extricate.

Jing Yuan gives Xing Yue a bracelet and takes her to visit the Demon Clan on the Ziyue. At that time, Jing Yuan eagerly shares his emotions and desires with Xing Yue, all centered around the concept of “affection.” His words, like a gentle stream, quietly seep into Xing Yue’s heart. Influenced by him, ripples begin to form deep within her, culminating in a passionate kiss in the Moon Hidden Sea.

At that moment, the Divine Bow’s barrier suddenly breaks, and an arrow shoots out into the direction of the Moon Hidden Sea, severely wounding and killing Jing Yuan. The arrow, bearing the name of the Heavenly Dao, tells Xing Yue that she is formed from the power of heaven, earth, and stars, and that her existence is meant to protect the peace of the Divine Realm. She must not be swayed by anyone, or else Jing Yuan will surely die.

Determined to go against fate, Xing Yue decides to form a divine pact with Jing Yuan to revive him, sealing away his memories during the process. When Jing Yuan professes his love to Xing Yue again, she heartlessly rejects him to protect him and reluctantly admits that she has been using him for a hundred years to achieve peace among the three clans. Hearing this, Jing Yuan becomes disillusioned and is ultimately wounded by Xing Yue, nurturing a deep-seated hatred.

After leaving the Moon Hidden Sea, Xing Yue accepts her punishment, ordering Xiuyan to act as her protector and seal away the Xingyue Pavilion until her emotions are fully restrained. Although Xing Yue has always wanted to rid herself of her feelings for Jing Yuan, her emotions have already taken deep root, like wild spring grass—impossible to completely eradicate. Even the most powerful forces in heaven and earth cannot contain emotions. As a result, Xing Yue’s divine power begins to wane due to her emotional turmoil. Being a manifestation of heavenly and earthly powers, the decline of her divine power signifies her impending demise.

Ironically, the only one who can help Xing Yue, Jing Yuan, has returned to the Demon Clan to cultivate in the secret realm and harbors a deep hatred for her. Once Jing Yuan completes his cultivation, he deliberately initiates a divine war against the Night Clan. The Night Clan is defeated, Elder Changqing is captured, and the gods are unaware of Xing Yue’s condition. They all beseech her to intervene and rescue the elder.

Meanwhile, Mo Li has been cultivating dark arts to enhance his hidden power, yearning to unify the Divine Realm and marry Xing Yue. Noticing that someone is practicing dark arts, Xing Yue takes the opportunity to confront the Demon Clan, discovering that Jing Yuan has not been practicing dark arts. Upon meeting again, Jing Yuan’s feelings for Xing Yue are a mix of love and hatred. He directly takes her to a place that mirrors the Xingyue Pavilion. Sensing something is wrong, Xing Yue anxiously questions Jing Yuan’s intentions. Jing Yuan demands that Xing Yue immediately announce to the Divine Realm that she is about to marry into the Demon Clan and that they will wed in ten days.
